What Is the Best Time of Day to Water Your Lawn?

While most experts can agree on when to mow the lawn with best results in the morning or evening, there is some debate as to what the overall best time it is to mow one’s lawn during the entire day. The issue is that there are similar conditions in the morning and in the evening at certain hours.  Some people also ask how to make grass green with using less water.

During the morning, after the dew goes away and the grass dries, mowing it can be a real pleasure. You can get through large portions without your mower complaining, and you might even finish early.

Of course, not everyone can do it in the morning, as some people have to leave for work early (sometimes even on weekends), so they need to find a different time. The late afternoon and evening is the best time for them. This is when the heat starts to subside, and the mower’s blades will actually take less of a toll. Your lawn can recover easily before the sun sets, so the grass will be in better shape overall.

This period should be somewhere between 5 PM and 8 PM. Depending on what time of the year it is, the sun might set earlier or later, so make sure you choose a time that’s at least around an hour before sunset.
